Could It Be Magic - Jessica Simpson and Barry Manilow

Could It Be Magic?

Has anybody popular covered a Jessica Simpson song? I can't think of any originals memorable enough to...well...remember. So I'm going to take the easy route and find another song she's covered. Otherwise this trail will be a dead-end.

She's done loads of covers, but no matter where I looked, I just couldn't find anyone popular who's covered one of her original songs. There are a lot of bedroom karaokes on youtube, but they don't count; that'd just be going even further down a dead end.

But look at her discography and there are a lot of cover songs. For example:

These Boots Were Made For Walking
Take My Breath Away
Baby It's Cold Outside
Son of a Preacher Man
Midnight Train to Georgia
Let It Snow
You Spin Me Round

Jessica Simpson
This is Jessica performing the song at the more upbeat speed I'm used to hearing it. There's an orchestra backing instead of a pop band. However it still sounds like a karaoke version, just with a better backing track. Something sounds odd about her voice on this one, lack of clarity at higher frequencies. Could be a cold as one comment mentioned. Listen for "let me know the wonder of all of you". Just sounds odd. The orchestra playing the stabs also sounds odd as well. That'll just be the choice of arrangement

Barry Manilow
Slick, smooth. It's well rehearsed, very well performed, even if it doesn't include the energy of a few other versions. The original piano and singer combination works well and the slow tempo surprises me every time I hear it.

Cast your vote at the poll.

Bonus
While I'm at it, I'd like to draw special attention to Jessica's collaboration with Ozzy Osbourne. The combination must be one of the oddest ever.
