Desktop Blog editor
I've been trying to find a better way to write and edit posts for this blog. I'd been using Smultron as a plain text editor, but I always have to tinker with the posts when I get them into Drupal. I've tried TinyMCE over at awardsounds.co.uk but I've never been really happy with it. Possibly because I use Safari as my primary browser and that's not fully supported with TinyMCE.
After reading about Ecto on ProBlogger, I thought I'd give it a try. At the same time, I've looked around to see what else I can find. Although I'm happy to pay for software when there's a good reason, this site is more of a hobby so I'm a bit reticent to buy software for posting. My guess is that my opinions will change. From the quick play I had with Ecto, I quite liked it. It was able to include embedded videos which is something that many editors fail with.
Right now, I'm using Bleezer for this. It's similar to Ecto with simpler functionality, but it's also free.
And just to check if it can cope with embedded objects, let's try:
That should be a video of Weather Report featuring Jaco playing Teen Town. It doesn't show in Bleezer, unlike Ecto which does show the embedded files. But it does show placeholders which is good enough. That's more than a lot of the desktop blog editors do.
