Ironic - Alanis and Alanis

Alanis slowed down My Humps dramatically and then shows that her own songs are not free from being covered by herself either. Ironic.

Alanis Morissette
The original Ironic was one of the first songs (the first?) released of Jagged Little Pill. It was the album that every teenage girl had to have as well as being required listening for a lot of the rest of us. A generation grew up on that album. Alanis accompanies herself on the choruses adding extra strength to those lines. The song heavily features acoustic guitar, with a distorted guitar fo choruses.

Alanis Morissette
10 Years after the original Jagged Little Pill, Alanis released an acoustic version. Often acoustic renditions are lame with artists trying to cash in. This one breaks that rule. The songs are still recognisable and sing-alongable-to (got a better phrase?), but each of them shows what can be done when the parameters for radio-friendly songs are relaxed. The vocals are different, similar to My Humps, the covers allow Alanis to shine through more. There's no double-tracking in this version, a single vocal line from Alanis due to the live nature of the show.

I pick Ironic mainly because it's the only song I can find with the original and an acoustic version. Better yet, buy the acoustic cd, especially if you liked the original. It's different to the acoustic version shown here.
