But it was all in good fun. And that mood was conveyed by Los Del Rio. You can see how it sold so much and took the holiday charts by storm. Bouncy dance beat to a latin rhythm. Some seemingly nonsense lyrics (do they make sense?).

This has got to be the best cover versions of Macarena in existance. I think it beats the chipmunk version as well. I heard this cover before I saw the video. To be honest, I don't know what to make of the video, it's not the most comfortable viewing. But back to the music, I like how the a dance song has been changed so much but is still recognisable. Many heavy covers just become noise and the only recognisable feature is the main lyric (no tune, just the words shouted). This one manages to avoid that pitfall and does it well.
